Meet Our Instructors

Our instructors are passionate about the art of Jiu-Jitsu and are dedicated to sharing their knowledge. All of our instructors have demonstrated a high level of skill, knowledge, technique, and safety in order to meet our strict requirements to instruct at Mile High Gracie Jiu-Jitsu. Each one has their own unique approach and personal touch to Jiu-Jitsu and this diversity carries through to our students.

A black belt under Royce Gracie and John Crouch. Morgan has real passion for teaching and sharing the art of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu and feels it is an art for everyone. Morgan started training at the Mile High Gracie academy in 2001 under long time friend and renown MMA/BJJ trainer and practitioner, John Crouch. Morgan has now been teaching for over ten years and has been the head instructor at Mile High Gracie Jiu Jitsu since 2008.

Morgan has also trained under BJJ black belt and MMA competitor, Henry Matamoros, who encouraged him to compete. He has competed throughout the midwest in BJJ tournaments such as North American Grappling Association (NAGA) and the Arnold Sports Festival, then in Colorado in the RMBJJF series. You may hear people refer to him by his nicknames, Spider Monkey and Captain.

Morgan is easy going and appreciating the little things in life. Morgan loves a good laugh, hiking, fishing, the outdoors, riding his motorcycle, and spending time with his family.

Colin is a black belt and is one of the primary instructors at MHGJJ. He was born and raised in Denver, CO and has lived in the metro area for the duration of his life. Jiu-Jitsu has been a constant outlet for Colin for the past 13+ years, all spent at Mile High Gracie. He says, "The longer I train Jiu-Jitsu, the more I want to learn. It's addicting, you know. Teaching Jiu-Jitsu has been a great opportunity for me, I truly enjoy it. Mile High til' I die." He holds very high standards for a comfortable and safe teaching environment for our students along with a progressive and diverse teaching approach.

Colin owns and runs his own remodeling company in the Denver area, Morrison Made. When Colin isn't working on someone else's house, he likes to work on his own home and spending time with his wife and surrounding family.

Josh Kemper (aka: The Krumpler) is a dedicated martial artist. He has a strong background in wrestling and has studied Jiu-Jitsu with fellow instructors for over the past 10 years. Josh works with a style that is highly effective and competitive. His knowledge of wrestling allows him to breakdown techniques towards various opponents and fight disciplines.

Bryan has trained and instructing alongside fellow instructors Morgan and Collin for many years honing his jiu-jitsu skills and has been able to translate that into great instruction. His approach is clear and direct and he has a great ability to recognize minute details, so he can improve your game with subtle technique adjustments and guidance.

Ron Briscoe : Instructor - Brown Belt

Ron Briscoe has been training in Jiu-Jitsu for over a decade! Like several of our other instructors, Briscoe trained under the renown coach, John Crouch. He has also trained with several other black belt instructors throughout the Denver area and nationally, such as John Crouch and Marcelo Garcia. He is very grateful to be able to teach Jiu Jitsu as it is one of his many passions.

Briscoe is an avid fitness enthusiast and is active in several other physical training and sports. He has trained in other martial arts in the past such as the Japanese art of ninjitsu. He trains at Red Rocks with the insane group known as “It Burns Joe Fitness.” He regularly practices Yoga at Qi Flow Yoga and enjoys skateboarding. Briscoe is also “addicted” to the library where he can explore great books, movies, documentaries and continues to pursue his curiosities and his philosophy to always learn. The most influential people in his life are his wife and their baby boy.

Andy is full-time teacher at a local school in Denver. His academic teaching background along with his in depth Jiu Jitsu experience and skills makes him an ideal instructor. He provides details and guidance in his instruction that is valuable for students of any skill level and size.

Andy also is very active even outside of jiu-jitsu. He enjoys traveling, mountain biking, hiking and skiing.

Andrew Miller : Instructor - Brown Belt

Andrew is a natural leader and talented athlete. He is one of our youngest students and instructors. His techniques are very adaptable and this carries over into his teaching as well. He has a background not only in jiu-jitsu, but also wrestling, sambo and striking arts like, Muay Thai and boxing. He leads our no gi/submission grappling class on Wednesdays, but he also has a very strong gi game as well, making him a very well-rounded fighter and instructor.

Andrew also provides martial arts and fitness training at Fusboxe MMA located in Westminster, Colorado.

Troy Everett : Assistant Instructor - Brown Belt

Troy Everett

Assistant Instructor - Brown Belt

Troy Everett (aka: The Night Pigeon) is a purple belt and has been attending the school since about 2010. His passion for jiu-jitsu shows with his dedication for learning and teaching. He has competed in many amateur tournaments and had his pro debut in 2016 in the Fight to Win Pro series and continues to compete in both am and pro matches. He has not only competed in several tournaments, but has walked away with several championships. With the traveling that tournaments and his job requires, he gets opportunities to train at various schools and with a variety of instructors. His travels, diverse training at different schools, and competition experience bring a wide range of styles to his instruction.

In his spare time, he continues his love for martial arts participating and working with martial arts tournaments and MMA events with Fight to Win. He also plays bass in a local band, It's Always Sunny in Tijuana.
